COVE PARK
PROGRAM
The Hudson Yards site is located in an industrial area in Chelsea, New York. The site requires new solutions and programming ideas, which will utilize its valuable and dynamic edge conditions. We propose an infrastructural project that is creatively programmed to engage human cultural systems and natural ecologies of the area in a dynamic way. The structure is composed of concrete slabs and columns, which offer scaffolding for shops and garden spaces to be easily plugged-in and out. The entirety of the column and slab structure acts as a barrier wall, protecting the site from flood and destruction.
CIRCULATION AND CONNECTIONS
The primary entrance extends from the land, meanwhile the secondary entrance extends from the High Line, passing underwater. This offers a transitory experience from above ground, to underwater, in one gesture. Recreational spaces located at water level profit from the edge condition and create a new sensibility between people and the edge of their city.
